We regret to announce the passing of Lyda Hornsby Jenkins, age 97, of Vero Beach, FL who passed away Monday, June 12, 2006 at the Osceola Health Care Center in St. Cloud, FL. Graveside service will be held Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville, GA. with the Rev. Luther Hastey officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, June 16, 2006 from 7:00-8:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville. Mrs. Hornsby was born in Iron City, GA on December 20, 1908 and moved to Vero Beach in 1992 from Melbourne, FL. She was a retired Civil Servant and had worked for the Federal Government for many years prior to her retirement. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Vero Beach and the Vero Beach Chapter of the American Association of Retired People. Survivors include her daughter, Donna (Steve) Ayers of St. Cloud, FL; granddaughter, Noelle McEllroy of St. Cloud; great-granddaughter, Briana McEllroy of St. Cloud; several nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Francis of Melbourne, FL.
