Leona Smith Reese, age 96, of Jakin, GA passed away Tuesday morning, January 16, 2018 at her residence. Funeral services for Mrs. Reese will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 3:00 PM at the chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with Dr. Calvin Arnold and Rev. Byron Dekle officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery with Carey Cannon, Jerry Pearce, Alan Pearce, Eric Gaulden, Kenneth Arnold, and Jerry Nix serving as active casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers will be Jerry Miller and Johnny Miller. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Mrs. Reese was born in Cedar Springs, GA on February 21, 1921. She was a retired school bus driver and homemaker. Mrs. Reese made house calls with Dr. Jenkins for a number of years also. She was a member of Jakin Baptist Church and well known for her cake baking and cooking. Mrs. Reese enjoyed time with her family and friends. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Patricia Grimes and her husband Charles of Colquitt, GA, Buddy Reese of Jakin, GA, and Sammy Reese and his wife Cindy of Jakin, GA, and her grandchildren, Max Grimes and wife Holly of Cedar Springs, GA, Wendy Brownlee and husband Edward of Blakely, GA, Manda Bryan and husband Mike of Dothan, AL, Kelsea Wilbur and husband Geoffrey of Iron City, GA, and Samantha Reese of Jakin, GA. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Trey Brownlee and Kyndall Brownlee of Blakely, GA, Ayla Grimes, Astyn Grimes, and Adeline Grimes of Cedar Springs, GA, and Leighton Bryan of Dothan, AL. Mrs. Reese was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Ira Wylman Reese. Arrangements have been entrusted to Evans-Skipper Funeral Home.
