JAMES WILLIAM HERRING, JR.

James William Herring, Jr., age 70, of Marianna, FL passed away Friday morning, November 17, 2017 at his residence. Funeral services for Mr. Herring will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 11:00 AM EST at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA with Rev. Caron Harn officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Cemetery in Jakin, GA. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service starting at 10:00 AM EST in the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Mr. Herring was born in Columbus, GA on May 28, 1947 to James William Herring, Sr. and Wilda Mercer Herring. He served his country in the United States Army and worked in the medical field as a certified nursing assistant. He was member of the Grand Ridge Baptist Church in Grand Ridge, FL. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Jean Spertzel Herring, of Marianna, FL; his brother, Walter Reudon Herring and his wife Retah of Iron City, GA; step-sons, Hollie Allen Powell, Jr. of Bainbridge, GA and Darrell Edward Powell of Marianna, FL; his nephew, Walter Richard Herring and his wife Robyn; his niece, Susan Nicole Herring; his great-nephews, Jacob Christian and Austin Matthew Herring. He is also survived by three step-granddaughters and two step-great grandsons. Mr. Herring was preceded in death by his parents, James William Herring, Sr. and Wilda Mercer Herring; his brother, Roger Dale Herring; and his daughter, Larissa Angelique Herring.
