We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Ometer Jones Sims, age 85, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2009, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service, with Rev. Donna Sue Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at 4:00 PM at Crown Hill Cemetery in Albany, GA. Mrs. Sims was born in Blountstown, FL on July 18, 1924 to the late Thomas Clifton and Annie Durham Olivent. She was a member of Reynolds Chapel United Methodist Church and was Co-owner of Dixie Sandwich Company of Albany, GA for many years. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, gardening and taking care of animals. She leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Brenda Sims Thompson and her husband Jim of Tallahassee, FL; three sons, John E. Sims, Jr. and his wife Samantha of Glendale, CA, Michael R. Sims and his wife Mary Anne of Lilburn, GA; Stephen W. Sims, Sr. and his wife Janice of Nashville, GA. Seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Clifton and Annie Durham Olivent; her husband, John E. Sims, Sr.; two sisters, Margaret Olivent and Lena Springs; and four brothers, Clifton Olivent, Herman Olivent, Johnny Frank Olivent, and Bobby Olivent; and one great grandchild, Billy Hammond. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
