James Buryl Logue, age 83, of Iron City, GA passed away Saturday morning, Sept. 2, 2017 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, AL. Mr. Logue was born near Whigham, GA, in his family home on December 16, 1933, to Aaron and Myrtle Logue. Graduating from Whigham High School at age 16, he was a member of the last class of 11th grade graduates. He continued his education at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, living in the quonset hut dormitories, and served his country in the United States Army as a tank driver in the 1st Armored Division “Old Ironsides”. He married Kathryn Cross on Easter Sunday, 1959. He served the southwest Georgia area as a Georgia State Patrol License Examiner for 35 years. Mr. Logue was a faithful member of Friendship United Methodist church, Donalsonville, for 56 years. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kathryn; children Clayton (Bill Rees) of Wailuku, HI, Suzanne of Woodstock, GA, and Wes (Tom Siracusa) of Atlanta, GA; a sister, Beth Logue Taylor (Carl) of Lawrenceville, GA; two special aunts, Clifford Cannington of Iron City, GA and Joan Clayton of Donalsonville, GA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron and Myrtle Logue, and a sister, Myra Nell VanLandingham. Funeral services for Mr. Logue will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Friendship United Methodist Church in Donalsonville, GA with Rev. Garth Duke-Barton, Rev. Charles Dennis, and Rev. Doug Harvey officiating. Interment will follow in Corinth Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with members of Georgia State Patrol serving as active casketbearers and Georgia State Patrol Retirees serving as honorary casketbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM at the church.
