Norman A. Sawyer, age 93, of Brinson, GA passed away Tuesday morning, August 8, 2017 at the Donalsonville Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Sawyer will be held on Wednesday afternoon, August 9, 2017 at 4:00 PM at Bethany Baptist Church with Dr. Ron McCaskill officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 3:00 PM. Mr. Sawyer was born November 15, 1923 in Donalsonville, GA to Roy G. Sawyer and Gladys Norman Sawyer. He served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Sawyer was a farmer, a self-taught artist, a lover of nature and wildlife. Mr. Norman had a large pen on his property where he raised fallow deer. At the age of 83, he used old irrigation pipe from his farm and constructed a cabin in his backyard. He then painted it to look like a log cabin. Mr. Sawyer was a member of Bethany Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years and music minister for a number of years. He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughters, Norma Gambrell of Belton, SC and Gail Trolinger and her husband Jody of Bainbridge, GA; his sisters, Saundra Hill Rogers of Reynoldsville, GA, Hilda Duval of Reynoldsville, GA and Betty Harris and her husband Bob of Forsyth, GA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cliff Gambrell and his wife Doylene, Shaye Gambrell Matheny and her husband Martin, Jennifer Hall and her husband Charles, Joey Whittington, Paul Trolinger and his wife Stephanie, Kevin Trolinger and his wife Lisa, and Patrick Trolinger; and his great grandchildren, Ashley Gambrell, Sarah Cabniss, Sawyer Hall, Matt Hall, Will Hall, Cole Trolinger, Lexi Trolinger, Brayden Trolinger, and Maura Kate Trolinger. Mr. Sawyer was preceded in death by his parents, Roy G. Sawyer and Gladys Norman Sawyer; his wife of almost 70 years, Sybil Wilson Sawyer; and his brother, Roy Sawyer.
