Percy Richard Jones of Donalsonville, GA was born on January 14, 1931 in Shamokin, PA, the son of the late Dewey Monroe and Carrie Mae Hooper Jones. He died July 19, 2017 in Donalsonville, GA. Funeral services for Mr. Jones will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Donalsonville Church of Christ with Rev. Wes Baldwin officiating. Interment will be held at Friendship Memorial Gardens with Howard Whittaker, Greg Whittaker, Lewis Carter, Marcus Carter, Jimmy Hornsby, and Bruce Phillips serving as active casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers will be the men of the church. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, July 20, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice 432 East Shotwell Street Bainbridge, GA 39819. Mr. Jones was a US Army veteran, serving in Europe in the 1950s. He attended Pennsylvania State University. He relocated to Quitman, GA. He went to work for Owens- Illinois in Clyatteville, GA in 1953. Mr. Jones relocated to the current Georgia-Pacific mill in 1963 from which he retired in 1988. When he retired, he was a shift foreman in the technical services department. He loved fishing, frying fish, watching football and Fox news and spending time with his wife, Marci and the rest of the extended family. In his younger years, he was an active golfer and loved looking for Native American artifacts. Until his death, he was an active member of the Donalsonville Church of Christ. Mr. Jones leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Marcelene Griffin Jones; two sons, Michael Jones and wife Tammy of McDonough, GA and Glenn Jones of Anniston, AL; two daughters, Amy Wells and husband Kevin of Auburn, AL and Laura Darley of Donalsonville, GA; four grandsons, Reid Darley of Auburn, AL, Ben Wells of Jackson, MS, Allen Redd of High Falls, GA, and Andy Redd of McDonough, GA; and four granddaughters, Rachel Anderson of Atlanta, GA, Hannah Jones of Anniston, AL, Sara Wells of Auburn, AL, and Lily Wells of Auburn, AL; one great-grandson, Houston Davies of Anniston, AL; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition, he is survived by two stepdaughters, Sharlene Eubanks and husband Greg of Donalsonville, GA and Debra Eakin and husband Mark of Bainbridge, GA; and one stepson, Bryan Griffin and wife Angel of Marianna, FL. He is also survived by a sister, Daun Klinger of Mount Pleasant Mills, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Monroe and Carrie Mae Hooper Jones; his first wife, Nina Jeanne Reid Jones; his brothers, Wayne Jones, Ken Jones, and Paul Jones; and his sisters, Doris Jones and Faye Zechman.
