We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Mary Ola Hawkins, age 81, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Funeral services for Mrs. Hawkins will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Oakview Church of God in Donalsonville, GA with Rev. Mylan Brookins officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday evening, September 7, 2009 from 7:00-9:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Mrs. Hawkins was born in Colquitt, GA on November 28, 1927 to the late Earnest and Florence Bush. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Oakview Church of God. Mrs. Hawkins was a member of the Prime Timers and Women of Grace, two groups which she enjoyed having the opportunity to fellowship with. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Perhaps her biggest enjoyment after her family was fishing, she definitely loved a day on the lake with her fishing pole. She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Glenda and Dick Howard of Jakin, GA, Charlotte Roberts of Donalsonville, GA, and Debbie and Rev. Mylan Brookins of Screven, GA; 3 sisters, Waver Moore of Atlanta, GA, Bernice Miller of Donalsonville, GA, and Coy Smith of Dallas, GA; one brother, Glen Bush of Orange, TX; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Florence Bush; her husband, Walton Hawkins; two brothers, Vernon Bush and Sidney Bush; one sister, Margaret Boling; and one great-grandchild, C.J. Polk. . Active casketbearers will be Scott Howard, Phillip Spooner, Matthew Brookins, Ryan Worsley, Brad Thompson, and Jack Herring. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
