James I. DuPriest, age 81, of Jakin, GA passed away Wednesday morning, February 8, 2017 at his residence. A memorial service for Mr. DuPriest will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Jakin United Methodist Church with Rev. George Masciarelli, Jr. and Rev. Doug Harvey officiating. Mr. DuPriest was born on June 15, 1935 in Jakin, GA to Irvin Alton DuPriest and Lucy Sirmons DuPriest. He served his country in the United States Army where he received the Army Accommodation Service Medal and numerous other service medals. He then he worked as a carpenter for Bates & Associates and was a member of Jakin United Methodist Church. Mr. DuPriest is survived by his wife, Mary George DuPriest of Jakin, GA; his son, James Dupriest, Jr. and Chindy Mazariegos of Marietta, GA; his daughters, Susan Brookins and Jimmy and Patricia Robinson all of Jakin, GA; his sister, Louise D. Ivey of Bainbridge, GA; his brother, David S. DuPriest and Joyce of Hayesville, NC; his grandchildren, Amanda Van Atta, Tray DuPriest, Anthony Robinson, Chris Brookins, Elaine DuPriest, Jessica Robinson, Sofia DuPriest; and his great grandchildren, Mary Abigail Van Atta, Heaven Robinson, Patrick Van Atta, Chevy Robinson, and Alexandra Brookins. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. DuPriest was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin Alton DuPriest and Lucy Sirmons DuPriest, and two sisters, Patricia North and Jeanette Fiveash.
