Jeanette Ard Cox, age 85, of Colquitt, GA, passed away Monday evening, Feb. 6, 2017 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, AL. Funeral services for Mrs. Cox will be held on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017 at 2:00 PM at New Home Freewill Baptist Church in Colquitt, GA with Rev. Benjamin Miller and Scott Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Mike Signs, Tony Cox, Steve Ard, Isaac Albritton, Steve Middleton, Wes Dozier, Kent Raker, and Mason Mosely serving as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM at the church. Mrs. Cox was born in Donalsonville, GA on August 31, 1931 to Isaac Matthew Ard and Allie Lee Roberts Ard. She worked at Dickie and Williams in Colquitt, GA and USL in Donalsonville before working in dietary at the Miller County Elementary School Lunchroom for a number of years before retiring. She was a hard worker and enjoyed gardening and canning vegetables. Mrs. Cox enjoyed spending time with her family, and she loved cooking for them especially. Her life was her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and she never missed an opportunity to laugh with them. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Karla Cloninger and husband Bryan of Colquitt, GA; her brother, Larry Ard of Iron City, GA; her grandchildren, Steven Gause of Iron City, GA, Hannah Spooner and Jake of Iron City, GA, Tyler Cox of Colquitt, GA, Emily Cloninger and Anna Beth Cloninger both of Knoxville, TN; as well as her great-grandchildren, Braeden Gause and Heidi Cox. Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac Matthew Ard and Allie Lee Roberts Ard; her husband, Herman Cox; three sisters, Geneva Ard Cox, Clyde Ard Cox, and Wylene Ard Lane; and her son, Nicky Cox.
