We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Irene Beulah McCalvin Chandler, age 81, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Friday, August 14, 2009 at her residence. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2009, at 3:00 PM at Donalsonville Church of God with Rev. Kip Boswell and Rev. Rollin Rathel officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Memorial Gardens in Donalsonville, GA. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Donalsonville Church of God. Mrs.Chandler was born in Colquitt, GA on March 31, 1928 to the late Thomas and Leola Long McCalvin. She was a faithful member of the Donalsonville Church of God. She worked for a number of years as a seamstress at Dickies before being at home, baking and sewing for her family and anyone else who needed her. She enjoyed baking cakes and making tarts for anyone who needed her to do so. Mrs. Chandler also loved to fish and spend time outdoors. Her biggest enjoyment came from spending time with her family and her church family. She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Carlous Chandler and his wife Barbara of Donalsonville, GA and Ralph Lon Chandler of CA; a daughter, Brenda Spooner and her husband Neal of Iron City, GA; a brother, Herman McCalvin and his wife Sara of Colquitt, GA; two sisters, Lillian Smith and her husband Russell of Colquitt, GA and Eunice Williams and her husband Dud of Bainbridge, GA; 9 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Leola Long McCalvin; a brother, John Roy McCalvin; and two sisters, Fannie Mae Evans and Myrtle Chandler. Active casketbearers will be Collin Chandler, Connor Chandler, Michael Chandler, Will Chandler, Bill Moody, and Ricky Smith.
