Bernice Chambers Cross, age 85, of Iron City, GA passed away Tuesday evening, Nov. 29, 2016 at Great Gran’s Personal Care Home in Donalsonville, GA. Funeral services for Mrs. Cross will be held on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA with Rev. James Miller officiating. The services will conclude in the chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Home Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund 80 Lane Road Colquitt, GA 39837. Mrs. Cross was born in Colquitt, GA on Feb. 24, 1931 to George Luther Chambers and Eddie Lou Roberts Chambers. She was the owner/operator of Cross Hardware in Iron City, GA for many years and enjoyed arts and crafts and working with flowers. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Diane Copeland and husband Sidney, Steve Cross and wife Stephanie, and Ricky Cross and wife Jeana all of Iron City, GA; as well as her grandchildren, Mark Pearce, Kristen Navarro, Daniel Pearce, Stephen Cross, Julia Cross, Oliver Cross, Shawn Cross, and Jason Cross and her great grandchildren, Courtney Roberts, Alyssa Pearce, Justin Cross, Harlson Cross, Madison Brock, and Willough Peters. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Jewel Chambers and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cross was preceded in death by her parents, George Luther Chambers and Eddie Lou Roberts Chambers; her husband, H.R. “Boy” Cross; three brothers, and one sister.
