Jack Donald Herring, age 82, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Thursday, October 27, 2016. Funeral services for Mr. Herring will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at 2:00 PM Oakview Church of God with Rev. Johnny Taylor, Rev. Mylan Brookins, and Rev. Stan Long officiating. Interment will follow in Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Mr. Herring was born in Seminole County, GA on March 27, 1934 to Harmon and Lena Long Herring. He was a retired insurance agent and a member of Oakview Church of God. He served on the church council, and served as music leader for over 30 years. Mr. Herring also served in the United States Army National Guard. Mr. Herring is survived by his wife, Virginia Hardwick Herring; his sons, Davey Herring and his wife Brenda of Fitzgerald, GA, Jon Herring and his wife Johnnie of Broken Arrow, OK; his grandchildren, Charles Herring, Elizabeth Herring Johnson and her husband James, Katie Herring, James Herring, and Jordan Herring; his step-children, H. Clay Barber and his wife Janet, Sharon Barkley and her children, Morgan, Zach, and Courtney Barkley, Dee Barber and her children, Ashleigh Collins and Harrison Barber. Mr. Herring is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harmon and Lena Long Herring; his first wife, Kathleen Moss Herring; a son, Ray Allen Herring; a granddaughter, Lena Margaret Herring; and his siblings, Garvice Herring, Durwood Herring, W.F. Herring, Melvin Herring, Ervin Herring, Paul Herring, Billy Herring, Jewel Ford, Merle Mendheim, Jean Vick, and Joyce Roberts.
