We regret to announce the passing of Mr. Jerry Douglas Temples,Sr., age 57, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at his residence. Funeral services for Mr. Temples will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Oakview Church of God in Donalsonville, GA with interment to follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Milton Pate officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday evening, July 17, 2009 from 7:00-9:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Mr. Temples was born in Donalsonville, GA on February 2, 1952 to the late Joe and Margie Anne Jones Temples. He graduated from Seminole County High School in 1971 and then served his country in the United States Army, during which time he served as a military police officer. He retired from the military in 1992. Mr. Temples had been teaching History at Bainbridge High School for the past 12 years. He was a member of Seminole Masonic Lodge #83 as well as an active member of Oakview Church of God. Mr. Temples loved working in his garden and caring for his cows. He always managed to have some type of carpentry project that he was working on, and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. Mr. Temples was just an all around outdoorsman. Even though he was involved with and enjoyed all of these things, he received the most enjoyment of all from being with his family. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Jonnie Temples of Donalsonville, GA;three sons, Jerry Douglas Temples, Jr. and his wife Renee of Bainbridge, GA, Johnnie Ray Temples and his wife Lori of Bainbridge, GA, and Charles Nicolas "Nicky" Temples of Donalsonville, GA; two grandchildren, Landon P. Temples of Bainbridge, GA and Bethany M. Temples of Donalsonville, GA; one brother, Billy Temples and his wife Judy of Bainbridge, GA; and two sisters, JoAnn Temples and Glenda Temples both of Donalsonville, GA. He is also survived by a nephew, Jonathan Temples and his wife Jamie of Tallahassee, FL; two nieces, Christy Temples of Tallahassee, FL and Hannah Temples of Bainbridge, GA; and a great niece, Ashlynn Temples of Tallahassee, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Margie Anne Jones Temples. Active casketbearers will be Bobby H. Black, Harold Crosson, Ken Holt, Grover Kelley, Stan Kennedy, Roy Rogers, Steve Bailey, and Tony Miller. Members of the BHS Air Force Jr. ROTC will serve as honorary casketbearers. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Bainbridge High School Scholarship Fund-Jerry Temples and sent to Bainbridge High School 1 Bearcat Blvd. Bainbridge, GA 39819.
