We regret to announce the passing of Mr. Larry Maynard Kirksey, age 57, of Colquitt, GA who passed away Monday, July 13, 2009 at the Miller County Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Kirksey will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at 2:30 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA with interment to follow in Friendship Memorial Gardens with Rev. Milton Pate officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM. Mr. Kirksey was born in Colquitt, GA on December 18, 1951 to Charlie and Bonnie West Kirksey. He graduated from Seminole County High School in 1970. Mr. Kirksey served his country in the United States Army before working with the Georgia Department of Transportation and Southern Concrete. While in the Army, Mr. Kirksey received the Army Service Ribbon, the Army Superior Unit Award, the Good Conduct Medal, and two Army Achievement Medals. He was also stationed at Arlington National Cemetery, where he was an accomplished member of the Honor Guard Unit. Mr. Kirksey leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, Charlie and Bonnie Kirksey of Donalsonville, GA; a son, Brian Kirksey of Knoxville, TN; a daughter, Christy Phillips and her husband Lewis of Knoxville, TN; a granddaughter, Brianna Kirksey of Donalsonville, GA; a brother, Randy Kirksey and his wife Debra of Cairo, GA; two nephews, Chuck Kirksey of Statesboro, GA and Blair Kirksey of Cairo, GA; and several aunts and uncles. Active casketbearers will be Ricky King, Kenneth Arnold, Carey Moye, Darryl Griffin, Kevin Long, and Carey Carter. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
