MILDRED ASHLEY DRAKE

Mildred Ashley Drake, age 88, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Thursday morning, Oct. 6, 2016 at her residence. Funeral services for Mrs. Drake will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Friendship United Methodist Church in Donalsonville, GA with Dr. Randy Mickler and Rev. Garth Duke-Barton officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery with Jack Owen, Rob Mickler, Lee Purcell, Scott Griffin, Art Gasses, and Alan Harrison serving as active casketbearers. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friendship United Methodist Church Choir Fund or to the Humane Society. Mrs. Drake was born on June 16, 1928 to J. C. Ashley and Ida Rhodes Ashley. She was a homemaker and former owner of Mi’s Hallmark. Mrs. Drake was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church the Worker’s Guild and the Chancel Choir. She enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of the Bridge Club, and had been a member of the Seminole County Boat Club and the Donalsonville Country Club as well as the Friendship Club. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Diane Mickler and husband Randy of Marietta, GA, Cissy Harrison and husband Glynn of Watkinsville, GA, and Kathy Griffin and husband Kerry of Carrollton, GA; as well as a nephew, Dr. Claude Ashley and wife Kelly of Dothan, AL. Mrs. Drake is also survived by her grandchildren, Rob Mickler and wife Susie, Ashley Purcell and husband Lee, Amy Boyd, Alan Harrison and wife Kristin, Lauren Griffin, Scott Griffin and wife Ashley, and Kelli Gasses and husband Art, and her great grandchildren, Drew Mickler, Mason Mickler, Cooper Purcell, Reese Purcell, Drake, Brax, and Reed Harrison, Hayes Boyd, and Gage Weeks. Mrs. Drake was preceded in death by her parents, J.C. Ashley and Ida Rhodes Ashley; her husband, John Lee Drake, Jr.; her brother, Claude Ashley, Sr.; and her nephew, Mike Ashley.
