We regret to announce the passing of Mr. Herbert “Hub” Williams, age 80, of Tallahassee, FL who passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Eden Springs Nursing Home in Crawfordville, FL. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 19, 2009, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Donalsonville, GA. Interment will follow in Friendship Memorial Gardens with Dr. Ron McCaskill and Dr. Calvin Arnold officiating. Mr. Williams was born in Colquitt, GA on June 13, 1929 to the late Charles and Mae Newberry Williams. He was a member of Seminole Baptist Church in Tallahassee, FL. He worked as a meat cutter for a number of years as well as a courier for Pony Express. Mr. Williams served his country in the United States Army. He was a great sports fan, having played football for the Seminole County Indians during which time he was nominated All Southwest Georgia. Mr. Williams enjoyed cooking for family and friends. He always wanted to be sure that none left hungry. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 58 years, Patricia Cheshire Williams of Tallahassee, FL; two sons, Ted Williams and his wife Janis of Ashville, NC and Kyle Williams and his wife Kim of Tampa, FL; two daughters, Pam Gartner of Poulsbo, WA and Leah Williams of Tampa, FL; a sister, Gwen Moulton of Donalsonville, GA; and 5 grandchildren, Jason Gartner, Ben Gartner, Sunny Williams, Nathan Williams, and Kaileen Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mae Newberry Williams; 5 sisters, Rubye Rachel, Dixie Cross, Mildred Sharber, Evelyn Futch, Alene Dekle; 2 brothers, Milton "Buddy" Williams and Chester "Totsie" Williams; and 1 grandson, Jed Gilbert Williams.. Active casketbearers will be Gordon Moulton, Charles Moulton, Kim Williams, Dr. Calvin Arnold, Kenneth Arnold, and Ron Arnold. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Research Foundation. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
