We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Karen Broome Sheffield, age 60, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Monday, May 25, 2009 at her residence. Funeral services will be held on Friday May 29, 2009 at 4:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Donalsonville, GA with Dr. Charles O. Walker, Fran McCaskill, Angela Erwin Mobley and Nicki Trawick speaking. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville, GA. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 28 from 6:00-8:00 PM at The Broome Home, 308 South Tennille Ave, Donalsonville, GA. Mrs. Sheffield was born in Donalsonville, GA on August 25, 1948 to the late Hugh D, Sr. and Beryl Spooner Broome. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Donalsonville, GA and owned and operated kindergartens and daycares for several years. She is survived by her husband Tom Sheffield; two sons, Eric Emunds, of Atlanta, GA; Justin Edmunds of Donalsonville,GA; three daughters, Michelle and Roger Braswell of Ashford, AL;.Robin Sheffield of Emerson, N.J. and Tracy Atkinson of Thomasville, GA; two brothers, Hugh D. and Brenda Broome and Brantley and Jackie Broome; one sister, Anne B. and Chason Trawick all of Donalsonville, GA. She is also survived by four grandchildren Alli Dukes, Reid Dukes, Kate Braswell and Buck Edmunds as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Beryl Spooner and Hugh D. Broome, Sr. and one brother John S. Broome. Active casketbearers will be Brett Guterman, Bret Johnson, Scott Trawick, John Brantley Trawick, Dee Broome, Mark Burkett, Richard Broome Eric Edmunds, and Stanley Mathis. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
