We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Alma Odom Johnson, age 82, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away on Monday, May 11, 2009, at Memorial Manor in Bainbridge, GA. Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Spring Creek Baptist Church in Donalsonville, GA with Rev. Jimmy Dean and Rev. David Grubbs officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Spring Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Johnson was born in Seminole County on April 28, 1927 to the late Albert and Augzetta Braswell Odom and was married to the late Vernon Johnson. She was a graduate of F.D.R. High School and worked as a paraprofessional in the Seminole County School System from 1977 to 1989. She was a faithful member of the Spring Creek Baptist Church where she sang in the church choir. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and singing and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by two sons, Johnny Johnson and his wife Peggy of Bainbridge, Ga and Joseph Johnson of Shalimar, FL; four grandchildren, Jessica Herrington and her husband Tyler of Tallahassee, FL, David Johnson of Pearl Harbor, HI, Justin Johnson of Tallahassee, FL and Daniel Johnson of Shalimar FL and one great-grandchild, Ivy Elizabeth Herrington. Mrs. Odom was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Augzetta Odom; her husband, Vernon Johnson; three brothers and two sisters. Casketbearers will be Joe Brown, Mike Hurst, Jerry Odom, Jr., Cecil McDonald, Marvin Tucker, Jim Johnson, and Lowell Johnson. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
