We regret to announce the passing of Vera Phillips Kirkland, age 84, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Friday, March 24, 2006 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, AL. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 26, 2006 at 3:00 PM at First Church of the Nazarene in Donalsonville, GA with Rev. Eric Boomer officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Bascom, FL. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 25, from 7:00-9:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA. Mrs. Kirkland was born in Gordon, AL on September 14, 1921 to the late Charlie Buster and Berta Rebecca Kirkland Phillips. She was married to Willis Kirkland who preceded her in death in 1988; worked as a seamstress at USL, a homemaker and member of the First Church of the Nazarene. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Geraldine and Randal Tice of Napier Field, AL and Robbie Jean Whittaker of Donalsonville, GA; one brother, R.V. Phillips of Dothan, AL; two sisters, Mittie "Dood" Pitts of Donalsonville, GA and Elsie Ray Adams of Dothan, AL. She is also survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and four brothers Odalee Phillips, Johnny Hue Phillips, Gene Phillips and C.B. Phillips. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
