Elton Earl Stephens, age 85, of Malone, FL passed away Monday evening, January 11, 2016 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, AL. Funeral services for Mr. Stephens will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 1:00 PM CST at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Bascom, FL with Rev. Henry Fullington and Rev. John Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, January 13, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 PM CST at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Mr. Stephens was born in Bascom, FL on October 10, 1930 to William Curtis Stephens and Inez Robinson Stephens. He worked as a scalesman at Georgia Pacific until his retirement. Mr. Stephens was devoted to his church and his family. He was active in church activities at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where he was a member, as long as his health allowed. He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Dawn Glover and her husband Rick of Malone, FL; his sister, Jeannette Goodson of Opelika, AL; and his brother, Arlon Stephens and his wife Barbara of Marianna, FL. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Andy Bell and his wife Holley of Pendergrass, GA, Dustin Pettis and his wife Michele of Blountstown, FL, Justin Glover and his wife Erin of Orange, CA, and Hilary Glover of Dothan, AL; and his great grandchildren, Nicholas Bell, Austin Bell, Brittany Mears, and Heather Mears. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Stephens was preceded in death by his parents, William Curtis Stephens and Inez Robinson Stephens; his wife, Geraldine Vaughan Stephens; and a son, Elzie B.”Buddy” Bell.
