PHILLIP NELSON CARTER

We regret to announce the passing of Mr. PHILLIP NELSON CARTER, age 69, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Monday, March 30, 2009 at Donalsonville Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Carter will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2009, at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Barineau officiating. Interment will follow in Corinth Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Iron City, GA. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, April 1, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Mr. Carter was born in Donalsonville, GA on August 2, 1939 to the late Thomas W. and Allie M. Smith. He worked in the construction industry as a pipe fitter with Local Union 630 West Palm Beach, FL for 30 plus years. He is survived by his wife, Ellen Carter of Donalsonville, GA; a son, Phillip Carter and his wife Rebecca of Valdosta, GA; a daughter, Michelle Sheffield of Donalsonville, GA; a former son-in-law, Stacy Sheffield of Donalsonville, GA; and four grandchildren, Ty Sheffield, Luke Sheffield,Lane Sheffield,and Adair Carter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas W. and Allie M. Smith Carter; and a sister, Shirley Carter. Active casketbearers will be Ronnie Paul Cross, Arthur Lee Cross, Jr., Steve Cross, David Price, Paul Cross, and Stacy Sheffield. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
