ELLA BUSH CROSS

We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Ella Bush Cross, age 97, of Buford, GA who passed away Friday, April 10, 2015 at her senior assisted living residence at Brookdale South Lee Buford. Interment of the cremains will take place on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Corinth Cemetery in Iron City, GA. A memorial service will be held at this time. Mrs. Cross was born in Colquitt, GA on January 7, 1918 to the late Smiley A. Bush and Ella Ophelia Womble Bush. She was raised by her late stepmother, Joyce Elizabeth Lane. Mrs. Cross was 35 years retired from Norton Safety Products, Charleston, SC where she worked for over 23 years as a quality inspector. During her years as a young mother in Iron City she proudly picked cotton to help support her family. She is survived by four daughters, Carolyn Cross McLean and her husband Roy McLean of Summerville, SC; Alice Cross Glawson of Beaufort, SC; Margaret Cross Costa and her husband Frank Costa of Jacksonville, FL; and Susan Cross Porteous and her husband Robert Porteous of Duluth, GA; two sons, Roger Cross of Portsmouth, VA; and Michael Cross of North Charleston, SC; five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren; and her nephews, Jerry Bush and his wife Faye and David Bush of Colquitt, GA.
