Veachel Williams, age 81, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Thursday morning, September 10, 2015 at his residence. Funeral services for Mr. Williams will be held on Monday morning, September 14, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Donalsonville Church of Christ with Rev. Wes Baldwin, Rev. Craig Smelser, and Dudley Chancey officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Memorial Gardens with Lewis Carter, Jr., Marcus Carter, Percy Jones, Mike Yanez, Tyler Houston, Buster Joiner, Roger Cook, and Jerry Houston serving as active casketbearers. The services will conclude in the church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 10:00 AM at the church. Mr. Williams was born in Thompkinsville, KY on March 10, 1934 to Lester Williams and Mattie Stockton Williams. He served his country in the United States Marines and worked with the USDA as a soil conservationist from 1964-1999 before retiring. Mr. Williams was an active member of the Donalsonville Church of Christ, serving as an elder in the church. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, JoAnn Williams of Donalsonville, GA; a daughter, Sharon Forrest of Donalsonville, GA; a son, Ron Williams of Savannah, GA; and a sister, Mary Katherine Peters and her husband Gary of South Bend, Indiana. He is also survived by four granddaughters, Rannie, Rachel, Reva, and Riley Ann Forrest all of Donalsonville, GA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Mattie Stockton Williams; a brother, Eugene Williams; a sister, Nora Ford; and a son-in-law, Robbie Forrest.
