Carl James Young, age 70, of Jakin, GA passed away Friday evening, August 21, 2015 at his residence. Funeral services for Mr. Young will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA with Father Dave Hamm and Rev. Doug Harvey officiating. Interment will follow in Oakview Church of God Cemetery with Faron Young, Kent Adams, Kevin Lewis, Joseph Knowles, Mike McClendon, and Steve McClellan serving as active casketbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 10:00 at the funeral home. Mr. Young was born on July 25, 1945 in Lithia, Florida to Robert Hayden Young, Sr. and Lessie Leona Toole Young. He married Judith Rave on July 1, 1967 and served his country in the United States Air Force. When he came out of the military, his rank was that of Staff Sergeant. He worked at Amoco Fabrics and Fibers in Bainbridge, GA, retiring after 25 years of service there and continued to work on his own in lawn maintenance until the end of 2014. Mr. Young was also the water operator, maintenance supervisor for the City of Jakin, his home for the past 65 years, a little town which he loved dearly. He also truly loved fishing and singing gospel music. Mr. Young was a faithful member of the Catholic Church of the Incarnation Donalsonville, GA. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 48 years, Judith Rave Young of Jakin, GA; his children, Robert J. Young (Doni) of Smithfield, VA, Timothy C. Young (Susie) of Augusta, GA, Karla J. Lane (Brantley) of Jakin, GA, and Maria Sobol (Dan) of Grand Rapids, MI; his grandchildren, Rachel Young and Stephanie Young of Smithfield, VA, Emily Knowles of Slocomb, AL, Joseph Knowles and James Knowles of Jakin, GA; Ginny Sobol and Eris Sobol of Grand Rapids, MI; his sister, Lessie Ruth Coloma of Roseburg, OR and his brother, Roy Young of Blakely, GA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as a special caregiver and honorary family member, Dorothy Bryant. Mr. Young was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Hayden Young, Sr. and Lessie Leona Toole Young; a son, William Paul Young; a brother, Robert Hayden Young, Jr. and a sister-in-law, Myrtle Young.
