We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Jewell Easom, age 95, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Monday evening, December 22, 2008 at Donalsonville Hospital. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church with Dr. Ron McCaskill and Rev. Gerald Ross officiating. Interment will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville, GA. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2008 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville. Mrs. Easom was born in Miller County, GA on November 3, 1913 to the late Tom Greene and Johnnie Elizabeth Fiveash Moulton. Mrs. Jewell was married to William Rufus "Buddy" Easom, who preceded her in death. She worked for a number of years with Donalsonville Grain Elevator before beginning work at the Thomas 5 and 10 store. Mrs. Jewell worked there until they closed the store in 1995. She was of the Baptist Faith. She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, William Wayne Easom, Sr. and his wife Laura of Donalsonville, GA; one daughter, Opal Patricia "Patty" VanWyck and her husband James Michael of Macon, GA; one brother, Kenneth Donald "Pretty" Moulton of Iron City, GA; and one sister, Amanda Sue "Mandy" Williams of Marietta, GA. She is also survived by five grandchildren, William Easom, Jr., Elaine Easom, Carol Easom, Russell Patrick VanWyck, and Kelly Michelle Smith and her husband Robert; four great grandchildren, Emsley Smith, Elizabeth Smith, Joseph Easom, and Christy Sheffield; four step-grandsons, six step-great grandchildren, and one step-great great grandson. Two brothers-in-law, Robert Forrest and Allious Averett, as well as numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom Greene and Johnnie Elizabeth Fiveash Moulton; her husband, William Rufus "Buddy" Easom; six brothers, Junior Moulton, Earl Moulton, Alva "Buck" Moulton, Jimmie "Pete" Moulton, Bill Moulton and Emsly Moulton; three sisters, Ruby Kate Hill, Hilda Clyde Johnson, and Juanita Brown.
