We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Adeline Bledsoe Braik of LaGrange, GA who passed away Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late David L. and Neattie Adams Bledsoe of Iron City, GA The family will receive friends at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in LaGrange from 11:0 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 23, 2008. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 24, 2008 in the Olive Grove Primitive Baptist Church (Rock Pond) Cemetery in Iron City, GA where Mrs. Brail was born. Mrs. Braik moved to LaGrange in 1990, after retiring as a supervisor with 40 years of service with the State of Florida. During her employment there she is credited with creating the first foster care program for developmentally disabled children. She received her bachelor's degree from Florida State and her master's degree in social work from St. Louis university. She also has the honor of being listed in Who's Who of American Women, as well as being a published author. Mrs. Braik was also a member of the First Baptist Church on the Square in LaGrange, where she helped with the program for the deaf by signing the church service and music. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth R. Braik, and is survived by two daughters, Charlene Stone of LaGrange, and Carolyn Jorgensen of Lanett, AL; a son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Donna Braik of LaGrange; grandchildren, Ken, Ashley, and Kristen Jorgensen, and Susan and Allan Braik. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to West Georgia Hospice, 1510 Vernon Road, LaGrange, GA 30240. Arrangements in LaGrange are by Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 1010 Mooty Bridge Road and for the interment by Evans-Skipper Funeral Home.
