Christine Cowart Smith

We regret to announce the passing of Ms. Christine Cowart Smith, age 67, of Columbia, AL who passed away Sunday morning, Dec. 21, 2008 in Donalsonville, GA. Funeral services for Ms. Smith will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 3:00 PM EST at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Columbia, AL with Rev. Don Tew and Rev. Robert Johns officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday evening, December 22, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 PM EST at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Ms. Smith was born in Seminole County, GA on Jan. 2, 1941 to the late Leon Eugene and Lucile Danford Cowart. She worked for a number of years as a LPN at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, AL. She was retired from her position there. Ms. Smith was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Columbia. Ms. Smith leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Michael Smith and his wife Dianne of Donalsonville, GA; a son-in-law, Mark Nall of Columbia, AL; two sisters, Wylene Moseley and her husband John of Jakin, GA and Daphene Spence and her husband Thomas "Brother" Spence of Colquitt, GA; four grandchildren, Amber Meredith and her husband Nathan of Columbia, AL, and Trevor Smith, Amelia Smith, and Erin Smith all of Donalsonville, GA; and three great grandchildren, Madison, DeLaney, and CarLee Meredith all of Columbia, AL. She is also survived by the father of her children, Ray Smith and his wife Diane of Auburn, GA. Ms. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Leon Eugene and Lucile Danford Cowart; a daughter, Tammy Nall; a sister, Irene Symonds; and a brother, Eugene Cowart. Active casketbearers will be Toby Spence, Gabe Spence, Lil' Frank Standifer, Ryan Knowles, Steve "Puppy" Odom, and Mark Lovett.
