ABRAHAM MEINEMA

August 28, 1942 — December 10, 2008

We regret to announce the passing of Mr. Abraham "Abe" Meinema, age 66, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Wednesday evening, Dec. 10, 2008 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008 at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Brinson, GA at 3:00 PM with Rev. Kenny Johnson and Rev. Curtis Earnest officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors by the United States Navy. Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 12, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Mr. Meinema was born in Delier, The Netherlands on August 28, 1942 to the late Arthur Meinema and Wilma Kleiweg Meinema. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a Sr. Chief. While in the Navy, he was a flight engineer and flew P-3 Orions. After retiring from the United States Navy, he worked with Boeing, where he served as Superintendent over the Air Force One Fleet Maintenance Crew. He retired in 1997. Mr. Meinema was a member of Grace Christian Reform Church in Kalamazoo, MI and attended the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Brinson, GA. Mr. Meinema leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 45 years, Bettie Jones Meinema of Donalsonville, GA; his mother, Wilma K. Meinema of Kalamazoo, MI; a daughter, Kimberly Wynn and her husband Gene of Bainbridge, GA; seven brothers, Bruin Meinema and wife Corrie of The Netherlands, Bert Meinema and wife Minnie of Kalamazoo and Louis Meinema and wife Alice all of Kalamazoo, MI, Peter Meinema and wife Glenda of Jacksonville,FL, Art Meinema and wife Lynn, Arend Meinema and wife Joanie, and Andrew Meineam all of Kalamazoo, MI; two sisters, Rika Mulder and husband Henk of Canada and Coby DeBruin of The Netherlands; three grandchildren, Benjamin Wynn, Joshua Wynn, and Hannah Wynn; three brothers-in-law, Robert Jones and wife Joyce of Donalsonville, GA, Wesley Jones and wife Antonetta of Dallas, TX, and Allen Jones and wife Donna of Donalsonville, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Casketbearers will be the US Navy and honorary casketbearers will be Lamar Jones, Benjamin Wynn, Joshua Wynn and Michael Jones. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Assembly of God Church Building Fund, 3603 Spring Creek Rd. Donalsonville, GA 39845
