Jessie R. (Doc) Lee, age 91, of Jakin, GA passed away Friday morning, Feb. 13, 2015 at his residence. Funeral services for Mr. Lee will be held on Monday, Feb. 16, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Springfield Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Odom and Rev. Wynton Lee officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with the active deacons of Springfield Baptist Church as well as Hunter Evans and Phil Buckhalter serving as active casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers will be the inactive deacons of the church as well as Mr. Lee's Sunday School Class. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM at the church. Mr. Lee was born in Ashburn, GA on August 5, 1923 to Jesse Washington Lee and Mary Jo Davis Lee. He served his country in the United States Navy as a Pharmacy Mate 2/C and then worked as a sheet metal mechanic at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, FL. Mr. Lee was a member of Springfield Baptist Church. He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Boyce Lee and his wife Carol and Wayne Lee and his wife Suzanne all of Jacksonville, FL; a daughter, Cindy Morgan and her husband Dewain of Blakely, GA; 4 brothers, Wynton Lee of Sycamore, GA, Bob Lee and his wife Gracie of Blackshear, GA, Henry Lee and his wife Gloria of Ellaville, GA, and Lonnie Lee and his wife Sheila of Beech Island, SC; two sisters, Becky Phillips of Americus, GA and Mamie Ruth Blankenship of Plains, GA; and three sisters-in-law, Carolyn Lee of Arabi, GA, Shirlene Lee of Ashburn, GA, and Mary Jo Lee of Charleston, SC. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Washington Lee and Mary Jo Davis Lee; his wife, Berta Lou Smith Lee; three brothers, Davis Lee, Bill Lee, and Jim Lee; and three sisters, Edna Morgan, Ruth Elder, and Garland Champion.
