HARVIE D KENNEDY

We regret to announce the passing of Mr. Harvie D Kennedy, age 77, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Sunday morning, October 19, 2008 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, AL. Funeral services for Mr. Kennedy will be held on Monday, October 20, 2008 at 3:00 PM at the Donalsonville Church of God with Rev. Stan Long officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville. Visitation will be held from 1:30-3:00 PM prior to the service at the church. Mr. Kennedy was born in Dale County, AL on October 1, 1931 to the late William M. and Nancy Vallie McWaters Kennedy. He was married to the former Agnes Bodiford on June 29, 1949. He served his country in the United States Air Force. Mr. Kennedy worked with Arizona Chemical Plant in Port St. Joe, FL for 38 years before retiring from that company. During that same period, he also worked with Stevedore for 20 years before his retirement. After moving to Seminole County, Mr. Kennedy was involved in farming and may best be remembered for his occupation of beekeeper. Mr. Kennedy was a member of Seminole Masonic Lodge #83. He was an active member of the Donalsonville Church of God where he was active in the Senior Adult Sunday School Class. Mr. Kennedy leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 59 years, Agnes Kennedy of Donalsonville, GA; a daughter, Sue Kennedy Vernon and her husband Connor of Dothan, AL; a son, Stan Kennedy and his wife Melody of Donalsonville, GA; and three grandchildren, Karen K. Rogerson and her husband Michael Jon of Valdosta, GA, Boone Kennedy and Kimberly Kennedy both of Donalsonville, GA. He is also survived by five sisters, Myree Snow of Lake Worth, FL, Ollie V Neel of Port St. Joe, FL, Lottie C D'Andrea of Cocoa Beach, FL, Nellie B Stewart of Donalsonville, GA, and Mavis E Flight of Jacksonville, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, William M. and Nancy Vallie McWaters Kennedy; two brothers, Talmadge Kennedy and Arlee Kennedy; and one sister, Willie Merle Kennedy. Active casketbearers will be Steve Kennedy, James Kennedy, James Hersey, Randy Stewart, Keith Bowen, and Steve Houston. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Donalsonville Church of God Building Fund 5060 Hwy 91 Donalsonville, GA 39845.
