CANNON, Shirley Mae (Sowell), 84, left her earthly home and went to her heavenly home to be with her husband, Jess G. Cannon, Jr., and with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on November 2, 2014. She was born in Chipley, FL on February 21, 1930 and lived her younger years in Donalsonville, GA. She moved to Tampa, FL in October 1958 with her new husband, Jess G. Cannon. Shirley was a faithful member of University Baptist Church in Tampa, FL for over 40 years. She was predeceased by the love of her life and husband of 53 years, Jess G. Cannon, Jr.; parents, Eddie Sowell and Effie Duncan Sowell; grandsons, John Dion Ridenour and Joshua Steve Cannon; sister, Pauline Sowell Carr; son-in-law, David R. Marvel. Shirley is survived by her children, Sonya Marvel, Ronald Donalson (Linda), Sherrie Walker, Sheila Donalson; step-children, Steve Cannon (Dawn) and Pam Dyer Alex. Shirley was blessed with 7 living grandchildren, Ron Donalson II, Christine Caudle, Chad Walker, Stephanie Grassi, Michelle Cesario, Tammy Dunlap and Luke Cannon. She was also blessed with 18 great grandchildren, Alexandrea, Sammantha, Gabrielle, Clayton, Jase, Talon, Arden, Gianna, Megan, Tyler, Hunter, Jeffrey, Alexander, Joshua, Rocco, Aubrey, Tucker, Andrew and one great-great grandson on the way, Emmett. Services will be held at 11 am on November 6, 2014 at University Baptist Church, 2121 E. 131st Ave., Tampa 33612, with Pastor Don Grantham officiating. A special thanks to Green Acres ALF and Hospice for their excellent care of Shirley during her stay. There will be a graveside service on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery in Jakin, GA with Rev. Wayne Sheffield officiating. Interment will follow.
