Harry Neason Evans, age 87, of Iron City, GA passed away Friday morning, October 3, 2014 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, AL. Funeral services for Mr. Evans will be held on Sunday afternoon, October 5, 2014 at 3:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA with Rev. Jimmy Walden and Rev. Paul Hewatt officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Memorial Gardens with Larry Evans, Tracy Bunce, Ronnie Hicks, Todd McVey, Steve Hayes, Brad Bunce, Riley Hicks, and Brian Hamm serving as active casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers will be Emory Courson, Jimmy Hornsby, Charles Musgrove, and William Arden Parker. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Mr. Evans was born in St. Petersburg, FL on June 30, 1927 to William Graham Evans and Martha Quarterman Evans. He served his country in the United States and worked with Georgia Pacific as a machinist for 37 ½ years before his retirement. Mr. Evans was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who was lovingly known as “Pop”. He loved Jesus and faithfully served Him for the greater portion of his life. His greatest desire was for all to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. Mr. Evans leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Sara Evans of Iron City, GA; two sons, William Larry Evans and his wife Marti of Iron City, GA and Tracy Hamilton Bunce and his wife Dorothy of Iron City, GA; three daughters, DeLynda Hayes and her husband Steve of Waynesville, GA, Kerry Hicks and her husband Ronnie of Rogersville, TN, and Deanne McVey and her husband Todd of Colquitt, GA; a sister, Eva Mae Wright of St. Marys, GA, as well as 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Raymond Hunnicutt of Donalsonville, GA and a sister-in-law, Virginia Baird of Eatonton, GA, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Graham Evans and Martha Quarterman Evans; three brothers, Graham Evans, Burwell Evans, and Reggie Evans; a sister, Esther Young; and a son, Harry Lee Evans.
