ALBERT BERNARD HARRIS, SR.

July 1, 1929 — October 1, 2008

We regret to announce the passing of Albert Bernard Harris, age 79, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away on October 1, 2008. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Friendship United Methodist Church in Donalsonville with Rev. Kirk Loyless and Rev. Charles Dennis officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday evening, Oct. 3, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Mr. Harris was born in Early County, GA on July 1, 1929 to the late Idus Clifton and Myra Alma Beard Harris. He was one of the organizing members of the first Seminole County Rescue Unit, as well as a strong supporter of the Boy Scout organization. Mr. Harris was an active member of Friendship United Methodist where he was a member of the Men's Bible Class and the Methodist Men. He was a member of the United Paperworkers International Union and worked as a mechanic at Georgia Pacific for 32 years before retiring. Mr. Harris loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing, but he especially looked forward to his grandchildren's ball games. Mr. Harris leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 54 years, Edith Henry Harris of Donalsonville, GA; a son, Al Harris and his wife Renee of Donalsonville, GA; three daughters, Kay Lane and her husband Eric of Albany, GA, Becky Harris of San Antonio, TX, and Jennifer Arnold and her husband Ron of Donalsonville, GA. He is also survived by 5 very special grandchildren, Matthew Lane, Jordon Harris, Bradley Harris, Cas Arnold, and Emma Chloe Arnold. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Laverne Weldon. Active casketbearers will be Bruce Phillips, Lavon Chandler, L.J. Miller, Mike Pumphrey, Mike Dupree, and Larry Blackburn. Honorary casketbearers will be the Men's Bible Class and the men of the Grow Sunday School Class of Friendship United Methodist Church.
