We regret to announce the passing of Mr. Jack William Newberry, Sr., age 79, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Sunday evening, September 28, 2008 at Seminole Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services for Mr. Newberry will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Friendship United Methodist Church in Donalsonville with Rev. Charles Dennis and Rev. Kirk Loyless officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at the Arlington City Cemetery in Arlington, GA. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, Sept. 30, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA. Mr. Newberry was born in Early County, GA on June 14, 1929 to the late John William and Bernice Johnson Newberry. He served his country in the United States Air Force before becoming involved in the sales industry, where he worked as a real estate agent for many years before retiring. Mr. Newberry had also been a member of the Masonic Lodge in Arlington, GA as well as a former member of the Donalsonville Lions Club. He was also a member of Friendship United Methodist Church. Mr. Newberry leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Nell Gentry Newberry of Donalsonville, GA; a son, Jack W. Newberry, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Donalsonville, GA; a daughter, Cathy Perry and her husband Andre of Alpharetta, GA; two brothers, Tommy Newberry of Arlington, GA and Albert Newberry of Leary, GA; and two sisters, Bernice Craft of Damascus, GA and Alene Eley of Decatur, GA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Erica S. Bland, Jordan Newberry, Jackson Newberry, Garrett Gilmore, Camille Gilmore, Caila Perry, Sydney Perry, and Scott Perry. Active casketbearers will be Ken Craft, Bill Hornsby, Tim Craft, Tony Gentry, Tom Newberry, and Billy Shingler. Honorary Casketbearers will be Lee Powell, J.B. Clark, Jospeh Sheffield, J.C. Earnest, Fred Brackin and Ike Newberry. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
