Herman Cox, age 83, of Colquitt, GA passed away Thursday morning, July 31, 2014 at his residence. Graveside services for Mr. Cox will be held on Friday afternoon, August 1, 2014 at New Home Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery at 4:00 PM with Rev. Ellis Hardwick officiating. Active casketbearers will be Pat King, Wes Dozier, Bryan Cloninger, Jake Spooner, Corey Cox, and Wendell Cox. Mr. Cox was born July 23, 1931 in Barbour County, AL to Fred and Cherry Belle Dubose Cox. He devoted some time to the National Guard and was employed as a mechanic for many years at City Motor and Bill Cramer in Donalsonville, GA before opening his own business, Cox Garage, with his son Nicky. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Jeanette Ard Cox of Colquitt, GA; a daughter, Karla Cloninger and her husband Bryan of Colquitt, GA; and 5 grandchildren, Steven Gause of Iron City, GA, Hannah Cox Spooner and her husband Jake of Iron City, GA, Tyler Cox, Emily Cloninger and Anna Beth Cloninger all of Colquitt, GA. He is also survived by two great grandchildren, Braeden Gause and Heidi Cox; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Cox was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Cherry Belle Dubose Cox; his son, Nicky Cox; and 3 brothers, Talmadge Cox, Hubert Cox, and Harvey Cox.
