Edward Leonard Gale, age 79, of Jakin, GA passed away Monday morning, May 19, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services for Mr. Gale will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 3:30 PM at Jakin Baptist Church with Dr. Calvin Arnold and Rev. Steve Wegmann officiating. Interment will follow in Jakin Cemetery with Larry Hartzog, Paul Johnson, Ray Widner, Blake Gale, Victor Cannon, and Brad Bell serving as active casketbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Mr. Gale was born in Brunswick, GA on March 28, 1935 to Leonard Gale and Creola Lewis Gale. He worked as a General Mechanic at Georgia Pacific until his retirement. Mr. Gale served his country in the United States Army and was a member of Jakin Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Masons, but may best be remembered for his love of sports and all the work and time he spent helping the youth at the Rec. Dept. in Seminole County. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Shelby Gale of Jakin, GA; a daughter, Diana Spooner and her husband Tommy of Iron City, GA; two sons, Ed Gale, Jr. and his wife Jane of Donalsonville, GA and Dennis Gale and his wife Stacy of Jakin, GA; and a sister, Betty Jo Hester of Deltonia, FL. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jason, Michael, Christina, Heather, Blake, and Shelby Gale, Tabitha Cole, Kasey Smith, and Micaelah Gale; and 11 great grandchildren.
