We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Emma Lorene Phillips, age 80, of Colquitt, GA. Mrs. Phillips passed away at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, AL on Wednesday, October 30, 2013. Memorial services for Mrs. Phillips will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Walden officiating. Interment will follow in Corinth Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Iron City, GA. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013 from 1:00-3:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Mrs. Phillips was born in Clio, AL on August 20, 1933 to Jim Phillips and Hazel Minnie Braswell. Mrs. Phillips was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her sons, Marlis Eugene Phillips and his wife Evelyn, James Roy “Flash” Phillips and his wife Janice, and Curtis Phillips; her brothers, Albert Phillips and his wife Mollie, Thomas “Red” Phillips, and Larry Phillips and his wife Linda; her sisters, Louise Chambless and her husband Nelson and Ella McCusker and her husband Doug. She is also survived by four grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her parents, Jim Phillips and Hazel Minnie Brazel; her husband, Mixon Phillips; a son, David Earl Pee Wee” Phillips; five brothers, Robert Phillips, James “Rat” Phillips, Roy Gene “Man” Phillips, Calvin Phillips and JD “Jake” Phillips; and a sister, Lucille P. Dukes.
