Rebecca Newberry Rabon, age 90, of Donalsonville passed away peacefully November 4, 2005 at the Donalsonville Hospital. Graveside Service will be held Sunday, November 6, 2005 at 1:30 PM at Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville, GA with Dr. Ron McCaskill and Rev. Luther Hastey officiating. At the age of 17, she began her teaching career which spanned 47 years. She taught in Iron City, Donalsonville, Thomasville and Gadsden County, FL. She was a longtime resident of Tallahassee and most recently Great Grans in Donalsonville. Rebecca (Speck) was a member of the Woman's Club of Chattahoochee and the Bainbridge Chapter of the D. A. R. Her hobbies were cooking, reading, sewing and playing bridge but her favorite past time was spending time with her beloved family. A member of the Baptist Church and a former Sunday School Teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband J. D. Rabon; one son Roy Rabon; two sisters Inez Johnson and Mary Kirkland and one brother T.E. Newberry. She is survived by one grandson, Jonathan and Amy Rabon; two great grandsons Jackson and Jakob Rabon all of Tallahassee, FL; granddaughter Katherine and Tom Long of Dallas, TX; daughter-in-law Edie Rabon of Tallahassee, FL; three nieces, Eole and Dick Ernspiger of Colleyville, TX; Rosemary and Ronnie Anders of Auburn, AL; Flavia and Jerome Harrell of Columbus, GA; two nephews, Tommy and Dana Newberry of Miami, FL; and Charlie Newberry of Gainesville, FL. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
