We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Altha Smith Barber, age 92, of Jakin, GA who passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Seminole Manor Nursing Home in Donalsonville, GA. Funeral services will be Friday, May 9, 2008 at 3:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with Rev. James Scarborough and Dr. Ron McCaskill officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, May 8, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. She was a homemaker a member of Pineview Community Club, Jakin Garden Club, Home Demonstration Club and also a member of First Baptist Church in Donalsonville, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband Pete Barber. She is survived by one son, David Barber and his wife Faye of Brunswick, GA; a daughter, Marsha Tyler and her husband Thomas and a daughter-in-law Patsy Barber all of Donalsonville, GA; one brother, Billly Smith of Nashville, GA; one sister, Robbie Kesler of Atlanta, GA . She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Cora Adams Smith; her husband, Pete Barber; one son, Jerry Barber and two grandsons Johnny and Tichie Tyler.
