We regret to announce the passing of Dorothy Mae Mathis Ingram, age 87, of Donalsonville, GA. Mrs. Ingram passed away Monday evening, August 26, 2013 at her residence. Funeral services for Mrs. Ingram will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Donalsonville, GA with Rev. Slade Alday and Rev. Roy Bateman officiating. Billy M. Grantham will be presenting an eulogy. Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, August 28, 2013 from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Mrs. Ingram was born in Early County, GA on July 3, 1926, to George Washington Mathis, Sr. and Alma Grace Cato Mathis. She was the retired co-owner of Red’s One Stop Standard Oil Service Station and a homemaker. Mrs. Dorothy was very crafty with her hands and loved playing computer games and keeping up with family and friends on Facebook. She had an overwhelming love for gospel singing and she was best known for her baking, especially her 14 layer chocolate cakes. Mrs. Ingram attended the First Baptist Church of Donalsonville. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Linda I. Alday; her brothers, Thurman (Buddy) Mathis, Vernon Mathis, and George Washington(Junior) Mathis, Jr.; and her sisters, Wylene Warren, Elouise Brown, Lorene Brown, and Nadine Jones. Mrs. Dorothy is also survived by some very special grandchildren, Rev. Slade and Danielle Alday, The Zion Brothers Quartet, The Freedom Hill Quartet, Sesame Robinson, and The Proclaimers Quartet. There are numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved very deeply that also survive. Mrs. Ingram was preceded in death by her parents, George Washington Mathis, Sr. and Alma Grace Cato Mathis; her husband, Milford E. (Red) Ingram; and her brothers, Robert Mathis, Douglas Mathis, Melton (Little Boy) Mathis, Raymond Mathis, James Mathis, and Grady Mathis. Active pallbearers will be John Gray, Chuck Newberry, Bradley Grantham, Shane Mercer, Doug Bryan, Ryan Ziglar, Chad Driggers, and Jeremy Horne. Billy Grantham, Kevin White, Bobby Black, Brian Driggers, Kevin Shiver, Mitch Royals, and Danny Watson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
