We regret to announce the passing of Mr. Jackson Wade Croom, age 72, of Donalsonville, GA. Mr. Croom passed away Tuesday evening, August 13, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services for Mr. Croom will be held on Saturday afternoon, August 17, 2013 at Hebrew Freewill Baptist Church at 3:00 PM with Rev. Andy Merritt officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday evening, August 16, 2013 at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 PM. Mr. Croom was born in Seminole County to the now late Jackson Rufus “Jack” and Queen Ester Alday Croom. He retired from the Georgia Dept. of Transportation and was also engaged in farming. Mr. Croom was a member of Hebrew Freewill Baptist Church. He leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, Jeffery Wade Croom, Sr. and his wife Christy of Donalsonville, GA and Christopher Owen Croom and his wife Kristy of Cottonwood, AL; three sisters, Doretha Stewart of Donalsonville, GA, Betty Reese and her husband Rudolph of Jakin, GA, and Carolyn Gray and her husband Tom of Donalsonville, GA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jeffery Wade Croom, Jr. and Joshua Cain Croom. Mr. Croom was preceded in death by his parents, Jackson Rufus “Jack” Croom and Queen Ester Alday Croom; two brothers, Harvey Croom and Ray “Happy” Croom; and two sisters, Patricia Cloud and Evelyn Croom. Active pallbearers will be Ricky Alday, Chuck Faircloth, Robin Faircloth, Phillip Reese, Calvin Atkinson, and Emmett Cloud. Honorary pallbearers will be Alan Ingram, Melvin Alday, Kenneth Blaire, Kenneth McClendon, Bubba Weeks, and Jimmy Hardy.
