We regret to announce the passing of Clarence "Cliff" Turner, Sr., age 70, of Bascom, FL who passed away Sunday, October 16, 2005 after a lengthy battle with numerous illinesses. After several years Cliff has finally slipped the binds of suffering and embarked on a final adventure, this time free of any pain, and with God as his co-pilot. A journey that promises to be blessed with "Clear skies, and favorable tail-winds". Cliff will be cremated and no service is planned at this time. You may share you thoughts with the family by visiting our website at www.evansskipperfh.com. Cliff was born in Gordon, AL on May 5, 1935 to the late Lula Bell and Clyde Turner of Bascom. He honorably served his country as a US Navy SEABEE, and eventually married and settled on the west coast of California and finally Hilo, Hawaii. The last six months of his life he lived with his cousin and pal, Jerry Turner. He was a truck driver by trade and an experienced pilot, who loved traveling, and made several trips back and forth from the west coast by car, motorhome, and (his personal favorite) by piloting one of his private planes. Besides his love of flying, Cliff also enjoyed spending time in the outdoors hunting and fishing, and eating out at restaurants, especially at "all-you-can-eat" buffets. Cliff is survived by three children, David Turner of AL, Clyde Turner of WA, and Patsy Harris of OR, many grand and great grandchildren, as well as sisters Oris Turner of Bascom, and Burnis Meredith of NC. He was preceded in death by his wife Nanciann and eldest son "Cliffie", and as well as his siblings Olean and Cecil Turner.
