We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Velender “App” Appling-Bell, age 64, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013 at her residence. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 2 PM (EST) in the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA with Rev. Pete Blackshear officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Ashford, AL. Visitation will be held Friday, May 10, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 PM (EST) at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. You may sign the online guest register at www.evansskipperfh.com. Mrs. Appling-Bell was born in Ashford, AL on September 7, 1948 to the late Johnny and Mary Lee Chandler Cochran. She retired from GTE as a telephone engineer; attended Reynoldsville Church of God and was a member of Harley Owners Groups (H.O.G.). She is survived by her spouse Charles Wells of Donalsonville, GA; two sons, Ellis Appling of Ashford, Al; and James Appling and his wife Tanya of Cowarts, AL; a brother, Johnny “Butch” Cochran and his wife Melinda of Kinsey, AL; and a sister, Virginia Hill of Gadson, AL. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Rick Appling, Damian Appling, and Raylee Appling as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Mary Lee Chandler Cochran; the father of her children, Ellis Appling, Sr.; and her second husband, Eddie Bell; as well as her Aunt and Uncle, Arthur and Myrtle Skipper. Active pallbearers will be James Appling, Ellis Appling, Damian Appling, Rick Appling, Vic Stuart, and Robert Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Hartzog and Jason Wells.
