We regret to announce the passing of Paul Ellis "Daddy Paul" Stout, age 84, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, AL. Graveside services will be held Friday, October 14, at 11:00 AM at Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville, GA with Rev. Luther Hastey and Dr. Ron McCaskill officiating. You may share you thoughts with the family by visiting our website at www.evansskipperfh.com. Mr. Stout was born in Ramsuer, NC on February 3, 1921 to the late James Ray and Mary Ellis Stout. He grew up in Sanford, NC, where he was a football, baseball, and basketball star. Mr. Stout was a graduate of North Carolina State University, where he was a member of their basketball team. He was a well known amateur golfer in the Sanford, NC area, as well as here in Seminole County. He married Evelyn Cummings on November 2, 1943, and began his successful and extensive cattle operation at Seminole Farms until his retirement in 1973. Mr. Stout was a veteran of World War II, during which time he played on the Army baseball team, a member of the First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and sang in the choir for a number of years, a member of the American Legion Post 157, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also refereed basketball games for several years. He was a charter member of the Donalsonville Country Club, where he served as the golf pro and operated the golf shop for a number of years. The Pro Shop at the Country Club is named in honor of him. Mr. Stout served as the President of the Donalsonville Country Club on numerous occassions. He was an active member of the Donalsonville Hospital Board, serving as the Board's chairman. He is survived by one son, John Ray Stout and his wife Carolyn of Bluffton, GA; three grandchildren, Jay Stout of Bainbridge, GA, Stacy Mills of Tallahassee, FL, and Bert Thomas,III of Atlanta, GA; three great grandchildren, Jordan Stout, Zachary Mills, and Trenton Olhausen; one sister, Helen Enzie of Cary, NC; and one brother, Russell Stout of Lillington, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Evelyn Cummings Stout, and a daughter, Linda Stout Thomas. Pallbearers will be members of the Board of Directors of Donalsonville Hospital, Herman Brookins, Broaddus Simpson, Mitch Blanks, Joe Spooner, Bill Burke, Chuck Orrick, and Dr. Homer Breckenridge,III, Dr. Charles O. Walker, Dr. Michelle Moody, and James Moody. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
