We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Essie Mae Cunningham Deese, age 91 of Colquitt, GA who passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the Miller County Hospital in Colquitt, GA. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Hammock Springs Free Will Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Smith and Rev. Josh Rathel officiating. Interment will follow in Oakview Church of God Cemetery with Greg McMillan, Bobby Dukes, Jeremy Rathel, Ronnie Dukes, Aaron Dukes, and Andy Dukes serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men of Hammock Springs Free Will Baptist Church. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 9, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Mrs. Deese was born in Midland City, Al on February 22, 1922 to the late George Washington and Sebia Brown Cunningham. She was a member of of Hammock Springs Free Will Baptist Church and a homemaker. She leaves to cherish her memory sons, Roy Deese and his wife Sharon of Dothan, AL, Roger Deese and his wife Peggy of Midland City, AL, Ricky Deese and his finance’ Angie of Colquitt, GA; daughters, Jean Dukes and her husband Roy of Donalsonville, GA and Shirley McMillan of Donalsonville, GA; sister-in-law, Jewel Cunningham. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchildren and one on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents George Washington and Sebie Brown Cunningham her husband, Robert Deese; daughter, Pauline Deese; son-in-law, Philip McMillan; five brothers, Robert Cunningham, Jimmy Cunningham, David Cunningham, Calvin Cunningham and Benny Cunningham. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
