Doris Hawkins

We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Doris Clair Staden Hawkins, age 93, of Iron City, GA who passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013 at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, AL. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Donalsonville, GA with Dr. Ron McCaskill officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Memorial Gardens with Dean Hornsby, Phillip Hornsby, Greg Spooner, Bo Spooner, Keven Hawkins and Tracy Hawkins serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Hawkins was born in Jersey, GA on October 1, 1919 to the late Henry Hanson and Edna Harris Hanson Staden. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Pure Gold Sundy School Class and active in the Mature Adult Program and she was a homemaker. She is survived by her son, Bobby Hawkins and his wife Jean of Townsend, GA; daughters, Mary Ellen Hornsby and her husband Larry of Iron City, GA, and Elaine Spooner and her husband Steve of Sumner, GA. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Hanson and Edna Harris Hanson Staden; her husband, Thomas Lonzo Hawkins; a brother, Herman Staden; a sister, Miriam Warner; a son, Thomas Hawkins, Jr.; and two great grandsons, Brandon Hornsby and Hunter Brock. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
