WE REGRET TO ANNOUNCE THE PASSING OF MR. JOHN JACKSON "JACK" BRANNON, AGE 83, OF DONALSONVILLE, GA. MR. BRANNON PASSED AWAY FRIDAY MORNING, DEC. 7, 2012 AT NOLAND HOSPITAL IN DOTHAN, AL. FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MR. BRANNON WILL BE HELD ON SUNDAY, DEC. 9, 2012 AT 3:00 PM AT DONALSONVILLE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH WITH DR. RONNY SPILLERS AND DR. RON MCCASKILL OFFICIATING. INTERMENT WILL FOLLOW IN FRIENDSHIP MEMORIAL GARDENS IN DONALSONVILLE, GA. VISITATION WILL BE HELD ONE HOUR PRIOR TO THE SERVICE AT THE CHURCH. MR. BRANNON WAS BORN IN MIDLAND CITY, AL. IN NOVEMBER OF 1929 TO THE NOW LATE LESLIE JACKSON AND EULA MAE SEALE BRANNON. HE GRADUATED FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA WITH A B.S. IN AGRONOMY. MR. BRANNON SERVED HIS COUNTRY IN THE UNITED STATES ARMY. WHILE SERVING IN THE ARMY, HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE NATIONAL SECURITY AGENCY(NSA) AND ASSIGNED TO THE PENTAGON. AFTER SERVING IN THE MILITARY, MR. BRANNON WAS A SELF-EMPLOYED MERCHANT FOR 60 YEARS. HE WAS VERY ACTIVE IN HIS COMMUNITY. MR. BRANNON HELPED ESTABLISH THE GEORGIA AREA PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION (GAPDC). HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE FOUNDING BOARD FOR DONALSONVILLE'S INDUSTRIAL PARK AND SERVED AS CHAIRMAN FOR MANY YEARS. HE WAS A 60 YEAR MEMBER OF THE DONALSONVILLE LIONS CLUB AND A MEMBER OF THE AMERICAN LEGION POST 157. HE WAS A MASTER MASON FOR ALMOST 62 YEARS AND A MEMBER OF SEMINOLE LODGE #83 AS WELL AS A SHRINER. HE HAD SERVED ON THE GOVERNOR'S ADVISORY BOARD, AS WELL AS THE CITY COUNCIL AND THE COUNTY COMMISSION WHERE HE HELD THE POSITION OF CHAIRMAN. MR. BRANNON WAS ALSO A MEMBER OF DONALSONVILLE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH. MR. BRANNON LEAVES TO CHERISH HIS MEMORY HIS WIFE, PAULINE "POLLY" BRANNON OF DONALSONVILLE, GA; A SON, JOHN BRANNON AND HIS WIFE PAM OF CAIRO, GA; TWO DAUGHTERS, JACKIE STUTTS AND HER HUSBAND DR. LARRY STUTTS OF TUSCUMBIA, AL AND KIMBERLY BRANNON OF DONALSONVILLE, GA; AND TWO SISTERS, RUBY DICKERT OF JACKSONVILLE, FL AND LEOLA CRANE OF SMYRNA, GA. HE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY SIX GRANDCHILDREN, JACKSON AND EMMALINE BRANNON BOTH OF CAIRO, GA, ELIZABETH THOMPSON AND HER HUSBAND SCOTT OF ATLANTA, GA, REBECCA HOVATER AND HER HUSBAND GREG OF TUSCUMBIA, AL, SARAH STUTTS OF BIRMINGHAM, AL, AND COLLINS STUTTS OF TUSCUMBIA, AL. SEVERAL NIECES AND NEPHEWS ALSO SURVIVE. MR. BRANNON WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS PARENTS, LESLIE JACKSON AND EULA MAE SEALE BRANNON. ACTIVE CASKETBEARERS WILL BE JACKSON BRANNON, COLLINS STUTTS, GREG HOVATER, SCOTT THOMPSON, ED KING, GREG WHITTAKER, MARK BURKETT, AND MONROE BONNER. HONORARY CASKETBEARERS WILL BE MEMBERS OF THE DONALSONVILLE LIONS CLUB AND MEMBERS OF SEMINOLE MASONIC LODGE #83. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS MAY BE MADE TO THE CHARITY OF YOUR CHOICE OR THE SEMINOLE MASONIC LODGE 83 C/O BOBBY BLACK 5411 BRACKIN ROAD DONALSONVILLE, GA 39845.
