GEORGE TRUETT JORDAN

Mr. George Truett Jordan, age 88, of Gordon, AL passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at the Donalsonville Hospital in Donalsonville, GA. Funeral services for Mr. Jordan will be held on Friday, October 5, 2012 at 10:00 AM CST (11:00 AM EST) at Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church in Gordon, AL with Rev. Raymond Owen officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, October 4, 2012 from 5:00-7:00 PM CST (6:00-8:00 PM EST) at the chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA. Mr. Jordan was born in Houston County, AL on November 30, 1923 to the now late Alver Lee Jordan and Minnie Lee Strickland Jordan. He served his country in the US Navy and was a farmer. Mr. Jordan was a member of Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon since 1955. He was also a member of the Masons Ashford Lodge 493 for over 50 years. Mr. Jordan leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Alice Jordan of Gordon, AL; a nephew, Robert Lamar Jordan and his wife Brenda of Gordon, AL; a niece, Peggy Elaine Jordan of Gordon, AL; two great nieces; one great nephew; and two great-great nieces all of Gordon, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alver Lee Jordan and Minnie Lee Strickland Jordan; a brother Otis Jordan; and a nephew, John Arthur Jordan. Active pallbearers will be members of Ashford Lodge 493. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to cancer research or The American Heart Association.
