We regret to announce the passing of Hugh Chandler, age 79, of Jakin who passed away Monday, June 27, 2005 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday June 30, 2005 at 2:00 PM at Jakin Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Sheffield and Rev. Talmadge Worsley officiating with interment following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 29, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA. Mr. Chandler was born in Buchanan, GA on June 1, 1926 to the late Robert O. and Emma Bartow White Chandler. He served his country in the US Army, and retired from the IRS where he worked in the collections division. He was a member of Jakin Freewill Baptist Church and also a deacon. Mr. Chandler leaves to cherish his memory his wife Winnie Jean Reeves Chandler of Jakin, GA; sons Kerry Hugh Chandler of Jakin, GA and Gregory Doyle Chander and his wife Glenda of Donalsonville, GA; daughters Jennifer Chandler North and her husband Mike of Grayson, GA; Penelope Jean Chandler Harvey and her husband Timothy of Chamblee, GA; brother Doyle Chandler of Jakin, GA. He is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother John Henry Chandler.
